To cater to the growing urban population and to provide affordable housing for all the government is pushing for development of large townships on the urban fringes. The government has put forth the Special Townships Act to catalyze the flow of FDI into such townships. Further the government and other parastatal authorities are planning to develop such large format townships under the PPP format.
